James is the only son of their eldest son Robert;
sadly, no photo of Robert available,
nor did Robert inherit the Lindsey Homestead,
which went instead to their second son, John.
Unknown: the story behind that outcome.

They farmed on the homesteads
through the hard times of 1887 - 1895,
then returned via Oklahoma,
in a covered wagon, where Paul was born,
delivered by his Grandfather Charles,
and settled outside of Caney, Kansas.
